6 Important

Your is exclusively designed for your vehicle. Please read the installation instructions thoroughly before beginning. Installation is easier if the vehicle is clean and free of debris. For your safety, and to ensure a satisfactory installation, perform all installation steps correctly in the sequence shown.

7 Installation Instructions

7.1 Vehicle Preparation

7.1.1 General

  1. Park motorcycle on a flat surface, fully extend kickstand, and make sure vehicle is stable.

  2. Turn key or ignition switch to OFF position and remove key. If equipped with keyless fob, remove fob from proximity of vehicle.

7.1.2 Stock Airbox Removal

  1. Remove airbox cover screws A and airbox cover B.

  2. Remove air filter element C.

  3. Remove vent hose D.

  4. Remove airbox screws E and airbox F.

    NOTICE

    While removing the airbox, disconnect the breather hose G from the breather fitting on the engine.

  5. Disconnect throttle body electrical connector H and remove the throttle body wiring from the holder.

  6. Remove the throttle body screws J and throttle body K.

  7. Remove and keep four screws L and four washers M from airbox support bracket N.

  8. Remove routing clips P and Q and remove the airbox support bracket N.

  9. Remove and keep the mounting bracket isolators R from the airbox support bracket.

7.2 Accessory Installation

  1. Install the retained mounting bracket isolators R into the intake manifold support bracket 1.

    NOTICE

    Use soapy water to help installation.

  2. Install the intake manifold support bracket 1 onto the intake manifold and align mounting holes. Install retained washer M and screws L. Torque screws to specification.

    TORQUE

    Intake Manifold Support Bracket Screws L:

    88 in-lbs (10 N·m)
  3. Install the o-ring 3 into the airbox base 6.

  4. Install end of breather hose 4 (without the marking) onto the airbox base 6.

  5. Install the airbox gasket 5, throttle body K, airbox base 6, and airbox base screws 12. Torque screws to specification.

    NOTICE

    Connect the end of breather hose (with the marking) onto the breather fitting on the engine when installing airbox base.

    TORQUE

    Airbox Base Screws 12:

    88 in-lbs (10 N·m)
  6. Put the throttle body wiring in the holder on the throttle body and connect throttle body electrical connector H.

  7. Prepare airbox cover surface by wiping clean with Isopropyl alcohol.

    WARNING
    Isopropyl alcohol is hazardous to your health. See isopropyl alcohol packaging for proper handling instructions, including recommended personal protective equipment such as goggles and chemical resistant gloves.
  8. Peel backing paper from horn badge 2 and attach to airbox cover 7.

  9. Install the airbox gasket 8, airbox cover 7, and airbox cover screws 11. Torque screws to specification.

    TORQUE

    Airbox Cover Screws 11:

    88 in-lbs (10 N·m)
  10. Install the air filter assembly 9 onto the airbox cover 7. Torque clamp to specification.

    TORQUE

    Air Filter Clamp:

    30 in-lbs (3 N·m)
  11. Install routing clip 10 to EVAP line and install routing clip to the mounting hole on the backside of the airbox cover.

  12. Update ECM with new calibration software using included Calibration Card 14.

    IMPORTANT

    This step must be completed by an Authorized Indian Motorcycle® Dealer. Do not operate vehicle until recalibration of vehicle is complete.

8 Recommended Service Intervals

Air Filter

  • Inspect filter element: Every 5,000 mi (8,000 km).

  • Clean filter element: Every 10,000 mi (16,000 km) or as needed. Air Filter Cleaning Kit, P/N 2885089 required for cleaning.

Rain Sock

  • Indian Motorcycle® recommends the rain sock be used during motorcycle operation in the rain.

  • Inspect the rain sock for any material damage at air filter cleaning intervals or as needed. Replace if necessary.
