Polaris Maintenance Schedule

The intervals shown are based on vehicles operated under normal conditions.

Each interval is given in hours and miles (kilometers). Items should be serviced at whichever interval comes first.

Continue to reference the following maintenance schedules at the given intervals as hours and miles (kilometers) increase on the vehicle.

Vehicles subjected to severe use must be serviced at 50% of the stated interval. Examples of Severe Use: Frequent immersion in mud, water, or sand, constant high RPM use, prolonged low-speed heavy load operation, extended idle, and short trip cold weather operation.

Initial Break-In Service
First 25 Hours / Monthly
Front Gearcase Fluid Initial fluid level inspection; inspect for fluid leaks; add lubricant if needed.
Transmission Fluid Initial fluid level inspection; inspect for fluid leaks; add lubricant if needed.
Engine Oil Initial fluid level inspection; inspect for fluid leaks; add lubricant if needed.
The break-in period consists of the first 25 hours of operation. Careful treatment of a new engine and drive components will result in more efficient performance and longer life for these components. The items outlined in this service interval only need to be performed at the first 25 hours of operation. They do not need to be performed every 25 hours.

Every 10/20/25 Hours or Monthly
Brake Pad Wear* (10 Hours) Inspect; replace as needed.
Battery (20 Hours) Check terminals; terminals should be tight and free of corrosion. Clean, test, and replace as necessary.
Fuel System (25 Hours) Inspect; check for leaks at fuel system connections, check for leaks at fill cap, check for signs of wear on fuel lines. Cycle key to pressurize fuel pump yearly.

Every 50 Hours / 500 Miles (800 km) or Every 6 Months
General Lubrication (3 Months) Locate all applicable fittings and grease. Complete this procedure every 3 months.
Shift Cable / Linkage Inspect cable; adjust linkage as required if shifting is poor.
Steering* Lubricate.
Front Suspension Lubricate.
Rear Suspension Lubricate.
Cooling System Inspect coolant strength seasonally. Pressure test system yearly.
Shock Absorbers Inspect for leaks, loose joints, and wear.
Throttle Pedal* Inspect; adjust; lubricate; replace if necessary.
Air Intake Ducts/Flange Inspect ducts for proper sealing/air leaks.
Drive Belt Inspect; replace as needed.

Every 100 Hours / 1000 Miles (1600 km) or 6 Months
Oil Lines and Fasteners Inspect for leaks and loose fittings.
Front Gearcase Oil Inspect level; change yearly.
Transmission Fluid Change fluid.
Engine Oil and Filter Change Change oil and filter; (perform a break-in oil change at one month).
* Have an authorized Polaris dealer or other qualified person perform these services.

Every 100 Hours / 1000 Miles (1600 km) or Yearly
Air Filter Replace air filter. Ensure proper installation of filter and airbox cover. Inspect ducts and screens; clean as necessary.
Radiator Inspect; clean external surfaces
Cooling Hoses Inspect for leaks; clean external surfaces.
Engine Mounts Inspect.
Exhaust Muffler / Pipe Inspect.
Wiring Inspect for wear, routing, security; apply dielectric grease to connectors subjected to water, mud, etc.
Exhaust Silencer / Pipe Inspect for leaks or damage.
Front Wheel Bearings* Inspect; replace as needed.
Fuel System* Cycle the key to prime and pressurize the fuel system. Check for leaks at fuel cap, fuel line / rail, and fuel pump; Replace lines every 2 years.
Spark Plug* inspect; replace as needed.
Clutches* Inspect; clean; replace worn parts.

Additional Maintenance Intervals

Every 200 hours

 Brake Fluid* Change fluid (DOT 4).

Every 250 hours / 2500 miles (4000 km)

 Shock Absorbers* Replace or rebuild (if applicable).

Every 60 Months / 5 Years

 Spark Arrestor Clean out.

Every 500 Hours / 5000 miles (8000 km)

 Valve clearance* Inspect; adjust.
* Have an authorized Polaris dealer or other qualified person perform these services.
