Battery Removal
Improperly connecting or disconnecting battery cables can result in an explosion and cause serious injury or death. When removing the battery, always disconnect the negative (black) cable first. When reinstalling the battery, always connect the negative (black) cable last.
To remove the battery, do the following:

Unlatch the two hood hold downs from each side of the vehicle

Open the hood.

Locate the battery access cover in the center of the cowl 1. Remove the two push pins from the access panel.2

Disconnect the black (-) battery cable 3 first. Disconnect the red (+) battery cable 4 last.

Remove the battery hold down strap.

Lift the battery out of the vehicle. Be careful not to tip a flooded battery sideways, which could spill electrolyte.
If electrolyte spills, immediately wash it off with a solution of one tablespoon baking soda and one cup water to prevent damage to the vehicle.
