Driving on Slippery Surfaces
This unit is equipped with an Auto Locking Front Drive (ALFD) system. The ALFD system is a limited slip differential that is always active and not user selectable. During an event where one or both front wheels may lose traction, the difference in wheel speed will automatically apply power to the slower spinning wheel , “locking” or closing the front drive. When the lock is no longer required, the ALFD will automatically release and “open” the front drive system back up.
When driving on slippery surfaces such as wet trails or loose gravel, or during freezing weather, follow these precautions:
-
Do not operate on excessively rough, slippery or loose terrain.
-
Slow down when entering slippery areas.
-
Maintain a high level of alertness, reading the trail and avoiding quick, sharp turns, which can cause skids.
-
Never apply the brakes during a skid. Correct a skid by turning the handlebars in the direction of the skid and shifting your body weight forward.
