Stuck Brake

This ATV is designed to prevent riders from driving through their brakes or overheating the brake system in the event of a stuck brake. If the brakes are engaged and the system detects pressure on the throttle, power will be limited to the vehicle and a scrolling message will appear on the gauge: “RELEASE BRAKES”.

In the event of this message, do the following:

  1. Bring the vehicle to a full stop.

  2. Check the brakes to make sure the brake lever is not stuck and the temporary brake lock is unlocked.

  3. Once the brakes are disengaged, the message will clear and the fault will be saved in the historic code.

  4. If the “RELEASE BRAKES” message turns on again, check to see if the brake taillight stays on. This could indicate the brake switch is stuck. Inspect the brake switch and replace if needed.

  5. Riding the vehicle with the brake lever slightly applied could also activate the brake light and after few seconds the “RELEASE BRAKES” message could come on.

NOTICE
The “RELEASE BRAKES” warning may turn on while holding the brake lever lightly while riding for a few seconds.
