Oil Change

  1. Position the vehicle on a level surface. Set the parking brake.

  2. Clean the area around the drain plug 1.

  3. Start the engine. Allow it to idle for 30 seconds.

  4. Stop the engine.

WARNING
Hot oil can cause burns to skin. Do not allow hot oil to contact skin.

  1. Place a drain pan under the engine crankcase.

  2. Remove the drain plug and pre-filter screen 2. Allow the oil to drain completely.

  3. Wash the oil pre-filter screen with solvent to remove debris. Allow the screen to air dry.

  4. The external oil filter and oil cooler 3 are mounted to the chassis under the engine. The oil filter is accessible on the right side of the vehicle. The spin-on oil filter should be replaced when oil is changed. With the oil drained from the crankcase, unscrew the oil filter and replace with a new one. Ensure that the oil filter gasket is properly seated, lubricated with oil and in good condition. Do not over tighten the oil filter.

    TORQUE

    External Oil Filter:

    Turn by hand until filter O-ring contacts sealing surface, then turn an additional 3/4 turn.

  1. Reassemble the pre-filter screen and spring to the pre-filter plug.

  2. Reinstall the drain plug and tighten to specification.

TORQUE

Drain Plug:

10 ft-lbs (14 N·m)

  1. Remove the dipstick. Add 35.5 floz (1050 ml) of the recommended oil. Do not overfill. See the specifications section for capacities.

  2. Reinstall the dipstick.

  3. Start the engine. Allow it to idle for 30 seconds.

  4. Stop the engine and inspect for leaks.

  5. Wait at least 15 seconds before removing the oil dipstick. Check the oil level.

  6. Add oil as needed to bring the level to the upper mark on the dipstick.

  7. Dispose of used oil properly.
