Spark Arrester
Failure to heed the following warnings while servicing the spark arrester could result in serious injury or death.
-

Do not perform service on the spark arrester while the system is hot. Allow components to cool sufficiently before proceeding.
 -

Wear eye protection and gloves.
 -

Never operate without the spark arrestor.
 -

Never run the engine in an enclosed area. Exhaust contains poisonous carbon monoxide gas.

1 Arrester Screen
To remove accumulated carbon, clean the spark arrester at the intervals recommended in the Periodic Maintenance Chart section.
-

Remove the three bolts and remove the arrester from the end of the muffler.
 -

Use a non-synthetic brush to clean the arrester screen. A synthetic brush may melt if components are warm. If necessary, blow debris from the screen with compressed air.
 -

Inspect the screen for wear and damage. Replace the arrester if damage is found.
 -

Reinstall the arrester.
 -

Torque the bolts to specification.
