Oil and Oil Filter Change
The engine oil and oil filter should be changed in accordance with the Polaris Maintenance Schedule. See the Lubrication Guide section for fluid recommendations and capacities.

Position the vehicle on a level surface.

Put the transmission in PARK (P) and lock the parking brake.

Clean the area around the drain plug 1.

Place a drain pan under the crankcase.

Remove the drain plug 1 and washer. Allow the oil to drain completely.
CAUTIONHot oil can cause burns to skin. Do not allow hot oil to contact skin. -
Install a new sealing washer on the drain plug. The sealing surfaces on drain plug and crankcase should be clean and free of burrs, nicks or scratches.

Reinstall the drain plug. Torque to specification.

12 ft-lbs (16 N·m)

Place an oil drain pan and shop towels beneath the oil filter.

Using an oil filter wrench (available from your POLARIS dealer), turn the filter counter-clockwise to remove it.

Using a clean dry cloth, clean the filter sealing surface on the crankcase.

Lubricate the o-ring on the new filter with a film of fresh engine oil. Check to make sure the o-ring is in good condition.

Install the new filter and rotate it clockwise by hand until the filter gasket contacts the sealing surface, then turn it an additional 3/4 turn.

Remove the engine access panel on the right side of the vehicle.

Remove the dipstick. Add the Polaris recommended lubricant as necessary to bring the oil level within the SAFE range on the dipstick. DO NOT overfill.

Reinstall the dipstick.

Start the engine. Allow it to idle for one to two minutes.

Stop the engine and check for leaks.

Check the oil level. Add engine oil as needed to bring the level to the upper mark on the dipstick. See the Oil Level Check section for proper procedure.

Dispose of used filter and oil properly.
