Battery Removal

WARNING
Improperly connecting or disconnecting battery cables can result in an explosion and cause serious injury or death. When removing the battery, always disconnect the negative (-) black cable first. When reinstalling the battery, always connect the negative (-) black cable last.

  1. Remove the fastener retaining the battery hold down strap.

  2. Disconnect the battery negative (-) (black) cables first, followed by the positive (+) (red) cables.

    CAUTION

    To reduce the chance of sparks when removing the battery, always disconnect the negative (-) (black) cables first.

  3. Carefully lift the battery out of the vehicle.
