Fork Height Setting

The height of the forks in the triple clamp of the host bike plays a critical role in the handling of the vehicle. If the vehicle does not handle correctly, or to your preference after adjusting the Timbersled skid shock preloads for rider weight, adjust the fork height until the handling is close to satisfactory.

NOTICE
Make small adjustments of the fork height. Typically, 2mm of adjustment at a time makes a big difference.
  • Fork tube moved up in the triple clamps: This can reduce ski pressure and create less steering effort on the trail or in denser snow conditions.

  • Fork tubes moved down in the triple clamps: This can increase ski pressure and reduce ski washing and a loose feeling ski on the trail.

NOTICE
Refer to the host bike's service manual for additional information on fork adjustments and specifications.

Once the forks are adjusted, use the front skid shock preload to fine tune the ski pressure. Increasing the preload on the front skid shock will reduce ski pressure.

The rear ski shock preload can be adjusted to control weight transfer. Reduce the weight transfer / ski lift by increasing preload on the rear shock.

Perform ski pressure adjustments in the following order:

  1. Adjust fork height to best match the ski pressure preference.

  2. Adjust front skid shock preload to fine tune ski pressure.

  3. Adjust rear skid shock reload to fine tune weight transfer.
