TSS or Fixed Strut Length
The bike attitude or pitch should be the same as the stock host bike on wheel. This can be seen by looking at the seat. On a late model motor cross bike, in a typical situation, the seat sits fairly flat.
-
Strut rod too long: Seat appears to go up in the back, looking like a stink bug. Ride characteristics: feels like the bike is tall in the back, or always putting more weight on the ski. Ski feels like it is heavy and darting.
-
Strut rod too short: Seat appears to go down in the rear at a steep angle. Ride characteristics: feels like the bike is pitched rearward. The ski feels light and washes easily in corners.
To adjust TSS Length while on the bike, follow these steps:
-
Loosen the jam nut on the trunnion ball joint. These are typical RH threads.
-
Rotate the shock to the right (if looking down) to shorten, rotate to the left to lengthen.
TIPIf there is air pressure in the shock, a wrench will be necessary to rotate. Release air pressure to allow rotation by hand.CAUTIONPinch points exist when letting out air pressure. Keep hands and fingers clear when letting out air pressure. -
When adjusting, adjust in 1 turn increments.
-
Tighten jam nut when finished.
