Spark Plug Removal and Replacement

Remove four fasteners 1 and remove the cargo box.

Remove four fasteners 2, four electrical harness connections 3 and remove ignition coils.

Clean out plug wells with compressed air to remove any loose dirt or debris.

Rinse plug wells with water and dry with compressed air.
NOTICESpark plug wells have drain holes built into the cylinder head to allow water to drain out.

Remove spark plugs using a 5/8” spark plug socket with an extension.

Inspect electrodes for wear and carbon buildup. Look for a sharp outer edge with no rounding or erosion of the electrodes.

Clean with electrical contact cleaner or a glass bead spark plug cleaner only.
IMPORTANTA wire brush or coated abrasive should not be used.

Measure gap with a wire gauge. Adjust gap if necessary by carefully bending the side electrode.

If necessary, replace spark plug with proper type.
IMPORTANTSevere engine damage may occur if the incorrect spark plug is used.
Recommended Spark Plug:
NGK ZMR7A -
Install spark plugs and torque to specification.
TORQUESpark Plug Torque:
9 ft-lbs (12 Nm)

Install ignition coils. Ensure coils are pushed all the way down so they engage onto the spark plugs. Torque fasteners to specification.
TORQUEIgnition Coil Fasteners:
7 ft-lbs (10 Nm)

Reconnect ignition coil harness connectors.

Reinstall the cargo box. Torque fasteners to specification.
TORQUECargo Box Fasteners:
7 ft-lbs (10 Nm)
