12V Battery Removal
WARNING
Improperly connecting or disconnecting battery
cables can result in an explosion and cause serious injury or death.
When removing the battery, always disconnect the negative (black)
cable first. When reinstalling the battery, always connect the negative
(black) cable last.
To remove the battery, do the following:

Power off the vehicle and remove the key from the key switch.

Lift up the passenger-side seat and remove the storage bin.

Remove the high-voltage service disconnect loop. See Disconnecting High Voltage Power for details.

Disconnect the black (-) battery cable first. Disconnect the red (+) battery cable last.

Remove the battery hold-down strap.

Lift the battery out of the vehicle.
NOTICE
If electrolyte spills, immediately wash it off
with a solution of one tablespoon baking soda and one cup water to
prevent damage to the vehicle.
