Hydraulic Brake Inspection

Visually inspect brake system per intervals defined in the Polaris Maintenance Schedule. Always allow the brake and exhaust systems to cool completely before inspecting.

If any leaks or abrasive wear is noted upon inspection contact your authorized POLARIS dealer for diagnostics and repairs. Kits are available for replacing brake pads and brake discs. Your POLARIS dealer can assist.

  1. Open the side panels and remove the hood.

  2. Inspect the brake hose and banjo bolt joints. All joints and components should be dry with no evidence of leaking brake fluid.

  3. Check for wear on brake hose from rubbing on any components.

  4. Inspect brake pads 1. Brake pads must be replaced when the brake pad material becomes thinner than the backing plate (approximately 1/16 inch or 1.5 mm).

  5. Inspect brake disc. Brake disc must be replaced when less than 0.175 inch thick (4.5 mm) or when any warping or cracking is evident upon inspection.

  6. Reinstall the hood and side panels.
