Spark Arrester
The exhaust system can get extremely hot. Do not perform service on the spark arrester while the system is hot. Allow components to cool sufficiently before proceeding.
Use the following procedure to periodically remove accumulated carbon from the arrester screen.
-
Remove the three screws 1 and remove the arrester from the end of the muffler.
-
Use a non-synthetic brush to clean the arrester screen. A synthetic brush may melt if components are warm. If necessary, blow debris from the screen with compressed air.
-
Inspect the screen for wear and damage. Replace if necessary.
-
Remove and inspect the gasket. Replace a worn or damaged gasket.
-
Reinstall the gasket and arrester.
