Oil Change

WARNING
Oil may be hot. Do not allow hot oil to come into contact with skin, as serious burns may result.
NOTICE
Drain the oil while the engine is warm to assure rapid and complete draining.
IMPORTANT
Improper disposal of engine oil can be harmful to the environment and is unlawful. Properly dispose of used oil.

  1. Start the engine and allow it to run for a few minutes. Stop the engine.

  2. Position the fuel valve switch to OFF.

  3. Elevate the generator several inches above the ground.

  4. Open the oil access door to expose oil drain 1.

  5. Remove the oil filler cap / dipstick.

  1. Place a drain pan under the generator.

  1. Remove the drain bolt 2 and sealing washer 3 from the bottom of the generator.

  2. Drain the used oil into a sealed container and take it to a recycling center. Do not discard the oil in a trash can, dump it on the ground, or pour it down the drain.

  3. Re-install the washer and drain bolt.

  1. Place provided funnel into fill valve.

  2. Fill oil to the high limit mark on the dipstick. Ensure that the oil level does not rise past the threading of the cap.

    Polaris 5W-30 Generator Oil

    19.6 floz (0.58 l)

  3. Remove funnel and re-install the dipstick. Do not screw in.

  4. Start the engine and let run for 1 or 2 minutes. Stop the engine and check for leaks.

  5. Re-check the oil level on the dipstick and add oil as needed to bring the level to the upper mark on the dipstick.

  6. Re-install the dipstick.

  7. Re-install oil access door securely.

  8. Wash hands with soap and water after handling used oil.
