Drive Chain Slack Adjustment

  1. Lift the vehicle to ensure both rear tires are off the ground.

  2. (Optional) Remove both rear tires for ease of access.

  3. Loosen the four axle bearing housing fasteners 1.

  4. Loosen either the inner or outer eyelet screw jam nuts 2 on each side of the vehicle.

Make sure you adjust each jam nut equally.

  1. To tighten the chain tension slack, turn the outer jam nut 3 clockwise until chain tension is set to specification. Repeat step on other side of the vehicle.

Drive Chain Tension:

1/4”-1/2” (6-12 mm) Deflection

  1. Torque the outer jam nuts to specification.

    TORQUE

    Eyelet Screw Jam Nuts

    20 ft-lbs (27 N·m)

  2. Torque the four axle bearing housing fasteners to specification.

    TORQUE

    Axle Bearing Housing Fasteners

    37 ft-lbs (50 N·m)

  3. If removed, reinstall both rear tires and torque wheel nuts to specification.

    TORQUE

    Wheel Lug Nuts

    30 ft-lbs (40 N·m)
