Battery Removal

NOTICE
If electrolyte spills, immediately wash it off with a solution of one tablespoon baking soda and one cup water to prevent damage to the vehicle.

To remove the battery, do the following:

  1. Unlock the front rack latches and open the front rack.

  2. Remove the two battery hold down strap screws 1 and remove the strap from the vehicle.

  3. Disconnect the negative (black) cable 2 first. Then disconnect the positive (red) cable 3.

  4. Carefully lift the battery out of the vehicle.
