Accelerating
Accelerate by depressing the throttle pedal. For even acceleration, depress the throttle pedal smoothly. On models equipped with a manual transmission, when you reach the recommended speed for upshifting, shift up one gear.
On models equipped with the AutoDrive transmission, the AutoDrive system will select an appropriate gear based on vehicle speed and throttle input. If you wish to influence the AutoDrive to upshift, momentarily lift the throttle after accelerating.
WARNING
Accelerating abruptly could cause loss of control
on low traction surfaces. Loss of control could result in serious
injury or death. Always accelerate gradually, especially on wet, slippery
or other low traction surfaces.
