Track Alignment Inspection / Adjustment
Periodically check that the track is centered and running evenly on the slide rails. Misalignment will cause excessive wear to the track and slide rails.
-
Safely support the rear of the snowmobile with the track off the ground. See Elevating the Snowmobile.
-
Start the engine and apply a small amount of throttle until the track slowly turns at least five revolutions.
-
Turn off the engine and let the track come to a stop – do NOT apply the brake.
-
Inspect track alignment by looking through the track windows to make sure the slide rails 1 are centered between the track windows.

-
If the track runs to the left: Loosen both idler shaft bolts 2 and the left jam nut 3, and then tighten the left track adjuster bolt 4.

-
If the track runs to the right: Loosen both idler shaft bolts 2 and the right jam nut 5, and then tighten the right track adjuster bolt 6.

-
-
After adjustments are complete, make sure track tension is set to specification. See Track Tension Inspection.
-
Tighten the jam nuts.
-
Torque the idler shaft bolts to specification.
